Motivational College Speaker

When it comes to college, this is a time of life that can be extremely exciting in terms of personal growth. On the other hand, it can also be a time that can be extremely stressful as well, especially if students don’t possess the proper coping strategies to decrease the possible negative impacts of being involved in such strenuous academic programs, which can put both their physical and mental health at risk.

Here are four of the most useful self-care tips for college students to consider making note of.

*First and foremost, perhaps one of the most useful self-care tips for college students is to always stop and take a deep breath. By learning to practice deep breathing whenever necessary, you will learn how to ground yourself whenever you end up feeling far too overwhelmed. Breaths that are both intentional and deep can enable you to pause and be present in your own body, especially during many instances whenever you may feel stressed in regards to various college-related activities.

*Another great self-care tip for college students is to always take the time to check in with yourself both physically and mentally. When it comes to stress, this is something that is different for everyone, which means that having self-awareness in regards to your own personal experience is extremely important to being able to understand what you need in order to properly take care of yourself. Any negative thoughts can serve as indicators that you probably will need to take some time to rest. Additionally, stress can also make itself known in various types of physical symptoms such as tiredness, shortness of breath, body aches, and more.

*One other useful self-care tip for college students is to both eat regularly and keep yourself hydrated. In order to be able to function, your body will always need to be properly fueled, meaning that you should always make healthy eating choices and drink plenty of water. One great way to constantly remind yourself of this would be to invest in a reusable water bottle that you can always carry around with you and drink out of it whenever you need to hydrate yourself. Additionally, some of the healthiest types of foods that you should consider eating should include fruits and vegetables as opposed to snacks that are more sugary.

*Another useful self-care tip for college students to consider making note of is to take the time to establish boundaries and learn when to say no. This is one particular tip that can make such a huge difference in the long run, as students can oftentimes overexert themselves both physically and mentally by saying yes to far too many things, such as committing to too many extracurricular activities, social outings, etc. However, it’s important to keep in mind that it’s perfectly fine to say no whenever you need to, as you should always prioritize whatever you feel is absolutely essential and turn down the activities that you believe may end up draining your energy.
