LauraBeth reflecting on her next chapter and what matters most as a woman approaching 60

life after 50

There’s something about approaching a new decade that makes you stop and think.

This is my last year in my 50s.

And as I approach 60, it hits a little differently.

Beauty may change with age, but a woman of substance only becomes more valuable with time.

So I started asking myself: life after 50

What do I really care about now? life after 50

And maybe more importantly…

What do I want the next chapter of my life to look like? life after 50

I Care Less About Impressing People life after 50

At this stage of life, I find myself caring less about impressing people and more about being fully alive and present.

I don't want to spend my energy trying to meet everyone else's expectations.

I want to enjoy where I am.

I want to laugh more.

I want to experience more.

I want to be present for the moments that actually matter. life after 50

I Care About My Health But Not Obsessing Over How I Look

Of course, I care about my health.

I want to feel well, have energy, and take care of myself.

But I don't want to spend the rest of my life obsessing over how I look.

Things change.

Our bodies change.

Our faces change.

And that's okay.

There is so much more to a woman than her appearance. life after 50 I Care About Meaningful Relationships

I still deeply value relationships.

But I'm much more selective about who gets my time and energy.

I've learned that not every relationship needs to be maintained.

Not everyone needs access to you.

And protecting your peace doesn't mean you care less.

It means you've learned the value of your time, your energy, and your emotional well-being.

I Care About Purpose And Fun life after 50

Purpose matters to me.

I want my life to have meaning.

I want to continue helping, creating, learning, and contributing.

But I also want fun.

I want laughter.

I want spontaneous moments.

I want to enjoy life instead of always thinking about the next thing I need to accomplish.

Sometimes we get so focused on being productive that we forget we're supposed to actually live.

I Care About Independence and Security

Financial security matters.

Having choices matters.

Being able to make decisions for yourself matters.

I want to continue building a life where I feel secure, independent, and capable.

Not because I need to prove anything…

But because independence gives us freedom.

I Want to Stay Curious

Getting older doesn't mean becoming disconnected from the world.

I want to stay curious.

I want to keep learning.

I want to stay relevant and engaged.

I want to discover new things, meet interesting people, have meaningful conversations, and continue growing.

There is still so much life to experience.

And Yes… I Want to Laugh

I care about being surrounded by people who make me laugh.

And I love making other people laugh too.

Life can be incredibly serious.

There are responsibilities.

There are disappointments.

There are difficult seasons.

So when you find people who bring genuine joy into your life, cherish them.

Laughter matters.

I'm Learning to Say "No"

One of the most freeing things I've learned is that no can simply be no.

It doesn't always need a 10-minute explanation.

It doesn't need an apology.

It doesn't need guilt.

Sometimes protecting your time means saying:

"No, that doesn't work for me."

And that's enough.

I Don't Want to Prove My Worth Anymore

Maybe the biggest shift of all is this:

I don't want to spend my next chapter trying to prove my worth.

I want to spend it living it.

I don't need to prove that I'm successful.

I don't need to prove that I'm valuable.

I don't need everyone's approval.

I want to focus on being present, staying curious, loving deeply, laughing often, and making the most of the life I have.

And perhaps that's one of the beautiful things about getting older.

We begin to understand that our worth was never something we had to earn.

Your Next Chapter Is Yours

Whether you're 50, 60, 70, or somewhere in between, your next chapter doesn't have to look like anyone else's.

You don't have to follow someone else's timeline.

You don't have to live according to what you think you should want.

You get to ask yourself:

What matters to me now?

What do I want more of?

What am I ready to let go of?

And perhaps most importantly:

What would make this next chapter feel meaningful to me?

Final Thoughts

Getting older isn't simply about getting older.

It's about becoming more honest about what matters.

It's about choosing relationships that nourish you.

Protecting your energy.

Staying curious.

Finding purpose.

Making room for joy.

And giving yourself permission to live rather than constantly prove yourself.

🌸Your next chapter doesn't need to impress anyone.

It simply needs to be yours.

Let's Talk

If you're somewhere between 50 and 80ish, I'd love to hear from you.

Finish this sentence:

"At this stage of my life, what I want most is __________."

No polished answers.

No "shoulds."

Just tell me what's true for you.

I have a feeling we may discover that we're far more alike than we realize.
